High-density PVC foam board is a rigid, closed-cell sheet made from extruded polyvinyl chloride. Its density of 0.7–0.9 g/cm³ provides stiffness, impact resistance, and load-bearing strength. High-Density Production Process
1. Raw Materials
- PVC resin

2. Equipment

3. Production Process
Batching & Pre-Mixing
- Weigh each component according to your formula (e.g. 60–70% PVC resin, 20–30% calcium, 5–10% fiber, remainder additives & regrind).
- Pre-blend dry powders and fibers in a ribbon blender or tumble mixer for uniformity.
Feeding & Extrusion
- Feed the core-layer blend into Extruder A. Set barrel zones to ~160–180 °C and screw speed for good dispersion.
- Feed the skin-layer blend into Extruder B under similar temperature profile.
Melting & Mixing
- In each extruder, PVC resin plastifies and shears with fillers/additives. Adjust back-pressure to ensure thorough mixing and de-gassing of volatiles.
Co-Extrusion
- Direct both melts into the co-extrusion die head. The inner melt (core) forms the foam center; the outer melt (skin) forms dense, smooth surfaces.
- Optimize layer thickness ratio (e.g. 80% core / 20% skin) by adjusting extruder throughput.
Sheet Forming
- Extruded melt exits the die in a continuous sheet. Immediately enter the cooling tank.
Cooling & Sizing
- Pass the hot board (180–200 °C) through a series of water baths or spray zones to solidify and fix dimensions.
Trimming & Slitting
- Use a slitter to cut boards longitudinally; trim edges to remove flash.
- Cross-cut to standard 4×8 ft panels or custom lengths via flying-knife cutter.
Haul-Off & Palletizing
- Pull the finished boards through traction rollers to maintain speed control and prevent deformation.
- Automatic off-loader stacks boards onto pallets in bundles; wrap or band for shipment.
4. Quality Control & Tips
- Monitor melt pressure and temperature profiles on both extruders.
- Check board thickness, density (target ≥0.8 g/cm³), surface finish, and dimensional tolerances.
- Test the closed-cell structure and mechanical properties at scheduled intervals.
- Control raw-material moisture to reduce porosity defects.
